Houston, Texas – A 17-year-old boy is currently hospitalized with severe head injuries after being attacked at the Houston Rodeo over the weekend. The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, has raised concerns about security at the annual event, especially following multiple fights involving young people during the same timeframe.
The victim, identified as Joseph Dugar, was reportedly assaulted by multiple individuals in the carnival area of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. His mother, Nakkia Washington, shared her perspective on the incident and expressed worries about safety at such large events.
According to Washington, the attack took place around 10 p.m. at the carnival grounds, where Dugar was violently beaten. Video footage of the incident shows a disturbing scene of Dugar being kicked while lying unconscious on the ground.
Dugar’s girlfriend, Lauryn Stanley, who was present during the assault, described the harrowing experience of witnessing the brutal attack on her boyfriend. She emphasized the need for increased security measures at events like the Houston Rodeo to ensure the safety of attendees, especially young people.
As a result of the assault, Dugar is now receiving treatment for serious head and face injuries at a local hospital. Washington, in response to the incident, has been cooperative with authorities while also facing online threats for speaking out about the attack.
Despite the traumatic ordeal, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident as a police report has been filed.
