APEX, NORTH CAROLINA – A tragic incident unfolded in Apex, North Carolina, when a custody exchange turned deadly. Police reported that a woman, who was the grandmother involved in the custody arrangement, was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by the child’s father, identified as Bradford Brown.
The altercation took place at a residence on Apache Lane late Friday night, leading to a confrontation between the father and the grandparents. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in the grandmother being hit by the vehicle driven by Brown.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the incident. Radio transmissions captured the severity of the situation, with dispatchers describing the victim as a 72-year-old woman who was unresponsive after being hit by the vehicle driven by Brown. Despite efforts to revive her, the grandmother succumbed to her injuries.
Following the tragic event, Brown attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by law enforcement shortly after. He now faces charges of voluntary manslaughter, with authorities indicating that additional charges may be forthcoming. Authorities are also actively searching for another individual who was reportedly in the vehicle during the incident.
