Tadhg Farrell, just four years old, and 60-year-old Mary Holt were found deceased on Saturday night as firefighters battled the blaze that engulfed their house in Castleview Park.
The fire, believed to have been started when a petrol bomb was thrown into the residence shortly before 7:45 p.m., resulted in critical injuries to a third woman, in her 50s, who is currently receiving treatment for severe burns. Reports indicate she is Ms. Holt’s sister and the boy’s grandmother.
Investigators suspect the incident is linked to individuals involved in drug activities in the Midlands. Gardaí expressed their belief that the firebombing was a deliberate act aimed at intimidating local families rather than the occupants being the intended victims.
