Lighthouse Point, Florida — A firefighter in Florida has been charged with multiple felonies following an alleged violent confrontation with a group of teenagers who were reportedly playing a prank at his residence. Authorities with the Lighthouse Point Police Department reported that 31-year-old Alex Lutz, who serves on the Highland Beach Fire Rescue, was involved in the altercation on the evening of November 23. According to police, a group of teenagers on a golf cart engaged in a prank known as “ding dong ditch,” which entails ringing a doorbell and running away. This seemingly harmless activity quickly escalated when an agitated Lutz emerged from his home wielding a baseball bat.
Investigators indicated that Lutz reportedly chased the teens, ultimately making physical contact with both the individuals and their golf cart. Surveillance footage from the area captured the distressing moments, showcasing the teenagers’ cries for help as Lutz allegedly threatened their lives. Several of the teens reportedly sustained injuries during the encounter.
Lutz voluntarily turned himself in to local law enforcement the following Monday and was released the next day after posting bond. He is facing serious legal repercussions, including two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and a charge of criminal mischief.
