ELGIN, Texas – Texas state fire marshals are currently investigating a possible home explosion that occurred in Bastrop County. The incident, which led to a fire, was reported by the North Bastrop County Fire Rescue following the initial response to the scene early Friday morning.
Assistant Fire Chief Mark Wobus of the North Bastrop County Fire Rescue described the aftermath of the explosion, noting that they discovered a double-wide mobile home that had been engulfed in flames and had been severely damaged. Fortunately, upon arrival, no individuals were found inside the home, but the structure was deemed a total loss, with only charred furniture and smoke remnants remaining.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown, as Wobus explained that it could have been due to various accidental factors such as electrical issues or cooking mishaps. The investigation into the incident has been transferred to the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office to determine the exact cause of the fire.
