Middleton, Wisconsin – Two people tragically lost their lives in a devastating house explosion and fire in southern Wisconsin. The incident, which occurred just outside the city of Middleton, also reportedly involved gunfire caused by the ignition of ammunition stored inside the home, according to authorities.
Middleton Fire Chief Aaron Harris confirmed that one person was found dead in the rubble of the exploded home, with a second body discovered the following day. Fortunately, no additional individuals were present at the time of the explosion, although a surviving dog was found alive and in good condition after being checked by veterinary professionals.
Details, including the names of the deceased, are pending release by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office following autopsies. Images circulating in local media show the charred remains of the home engulfed in flames, along with debris scattered in the vicinity.
Authorities indicated that the explosion resulted in an immediate collapse of the house, leaving a significant debris field. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation by officials from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, as expressed by Harris and spokesperson Elise Schaffer.
Situated in a rural area approximately 6.4 kilometers north of downtown Middleton, the exploded residence remains a focal point of the ongoing inquiry.
