SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A father and son have been arrested in connection with the deaths of Savanah Soto and her boyfriend, Matthew Guerra, San Antonio police reported.
Soto, 18, and Guerra, 22, were found dead in a car in late December, and Christopher Preciado, 19, has been charged with capital murder while his father, Ramon Preciado, 53, was charged with abuse of a corpse.
Authorities collected a cellphone as a critical piece of evidence when they discovered Soto and Guerra’s bodies in a Northwest Side apartment complex parking lot on Dec. 26, 2023, with information on the phone leading detectives to the suspect vehicle seen in a surveillance video.
When officers arrived at the location of the suspect vehicle, they conducted surveillance, knocked on the door, and reportedly the father, Ramon Preciado, answered and said he knew why police were there.
The deaths were allegedly tied to a botched drug deal, with police stating that the victims were killed on Dec. 21 before midnight. Christopher Preciado is alleged to be the sole killer, according to police, with his father helping to hide the bodies. The bodies were dumped at a different location from where they were found on Dec. 26.
SAPD said they would be working with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office to determine any further charges, especially since Soto was pregnant and about to give birth at the time of her death. Christopher Preciado has no previous criminal history, according to police, while his father had some criminal history.
