Frostburg, Maryland – The leader of a cult-like group facing allegations of multiple killings, including the fatal shooting of a border patrol officer in Vermont last month, has been apprehended in Maryland on charges of trespassing and other offenses. Jack LaSota, known as “Ziz” and a vocal critic of artificial intelligence, was arrested in Frostburg, Maryland, located between Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.
Maryland State Police disclosed that LaSota, a 34-year-old from Berkeley, California, is also facing a firearms charge and obstruction charges. Alongside LaSota, Michelle Zajko of Media, Pennsylvania, and Daniel Blank of Sacramento, California, were also arrested on comparable charges and are currently being detained in a local jail.
The state police statement did not disclose detailed information regarding the charges against the trio. However, they stated that an ongoing investigation is being conducted in collaboration with federal law enforcement and the Allegany County state’s attorney office.
LaSota, who was believed to have passed away in a boating accident in August 2022, has since been linked to a series of violent incidents, including a stabbing in 2022 that resulted in the partial blindness of an 80-year-old man. Although LaSota was present at the scene of the attack, she has not been charged in connection with the killing.
In addition, another follower of LaSota’s, Ophelia Bauckholt, a German national, was fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire with Border Patrol agents in Vermont last month. The shooting transpired during a traffic stop, with Bauckholt being shot after brandishing a firearm, according to federal prosecutors.
As the investigation continues into these disturbing incidences, it becomes crucial to uncover the true nature of the cult-like group and its alleged involvement in various violent acts. The authorities are diligently working to piece together the puzzle surrounding these events and bring those responsible to justice.
