Fort Worth, Texas – A tragic plane crash near Hicks Airfield left two people dead on Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 12700 block of North Saginaw Boulevard, close to Business 287 in Tarrant County.
Witnesses reported seeing multiple semi-trucks ablaze as a result of the crash. It remains unclear how many vehicles were affected. Firefighters responded swiftly, bringing the flames under control in just over half an hour. The incident sparked several grass fires nearby, which were also contained without incident.
Emergency responders dispatched ten fire trucks, along with 14 support vehicles and three ambulances, to manage the situation. Once the fire was under control, the Fort Worth Fire Department transferred command to Tarrant County’s fire services.
The aircraft involved in the incident was identified as a King Air twin-engine airplane that had departed from Alliance Airport. Preliminary reports indicated that at least ten tractor trailers sustained damage due to the flames.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash, with assistance from the National Transportation Safety Board. As authorities continue to gather evidence, they have not yet disclosed the number of passengers on board the plane at the time of the accident.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area as Business 287 is closed to both northbound and southbound traffic. Local authorities encourage drivers to seek alternative routes until further notice.
Residents in the vicinity described the moments following the crash, with one neighbor recalling a loud explosion that echoed through her home. Theresa Brown, who witnessed the aftermath, expressed her concerns about the victims. “I hope it was quick. Those poor people,” she told reporters as she observed efforts to combat the flames.
Business owner Hady Aghili received a shock when informed about the crash at his property, Five Points Business Park. “I thought it was a joke at first, but when I arrived, I was relieved to see that the flames missed my building by mere yards. I hope there are no casualties; property can be replaced, but lives cannot,” Aghili remarked.
