ATLANTA — An Atlanta man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a violent home invasion and assault that left his neighbor critically injured. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis announced the conviction of Antonius Alexander, who was found guilty on multiple charges stemming from the November 2019 attack.
Willie Stinson was ambushed outside his home on Croft Place by Alexander and two accomplices. Stinson reportedly recognized Alexander, his neighbor, as one of the attackers. During the incident, Alexander confronted Stinson at gunpoint, citing previous grievances.
As the assault unfolded, Stinson’s friend, Randy Munday, was also targeted. He was shot in both legs while held at gunpoint in a nearby van by one of the men involved. Despite sustaining life-threatening injuries, Stinson survived the ordeal and was able to provide police with a crucial identification of Alexander once he regained the ability to speak.
After a thorough trial, a jury found Alexander guilty of six charges, including first-degree home invasion, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. The jury’s verdict confirms the gravity of the crime and the significant impact it had on the victims.
“Home invasions are terrifying crimes that shatter people’s sense of safety in their own home,” Willis stated. “I am grateful Mr. Stinson survived this brutal attack and hope he continues to heal from the devastating injuries he suffered.” Alexander has received a life sentence plus an additional five years for his actions.
Authorities are still pursuing the other two suspects involved in the violent attack, who remain at large. The District Attorney’s Office urged the community to remain vigilant and report any information related to their whereabouts.
This case underscores ongoing concerns about violence in neighborhoods and the importance of community awareness and support for victims of crime. The legal system aims to demonstrate that such violent behaviors will not be tolerated, as efforts continue to bring all perpetrators to justice.
