Niger State, Nigeria – A recent violent clash between students of Annur Islamic Model School in Chaichainiya and local youths in Zuma Bread, Chaichainiya has led to the arrest of six suspects by the Niger State Police Command. The altercation, originally stemming from a dispute over girlfriends, quickly escalated into a deadly brawl, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama’s social media post.
The clash, which occurred on March 6, 2025, around 9:11 p.m. after the Tarawih prayer, involved over twenty youths and students reportedly led by an SSS 3 student named Umar Idris. Armed with dangerous weapons, the group clashed violently, resulting in gunshots being fired from an unidentified source and injuring two minors.
The victims, identified as 11-year-old Immarana Hassan and 10-year-old Nura Jibrin, suffered gunshot wounds to their thighs and were promptly taken to Suleja General Hospital for medical treatment. In response to a distress call, police forces and local vigilantes intervened swiftly to restore peace to the area.
Authorities have confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection to the incident, with ongoing investigations to capture any additional individuals involved in orchestrating the attack. The injured minors are currently recovering in the hospital, while the community grapples with the aftermath of the violent clash. The incident underscores the importance of addressing underlying tensions and conflicts within communities to prevent such tragic events from occurring in the future.
