Detroit Lakes, Minnesota – Jackie Shroyer, accused of planning to kill her husband Beau in a murder-for-hire scheme, has been formally charged with murder, according to a statement from her family’s church.
Lakes Area Vineyard Church announced on Monday, February 24th, that Jackie had been charged as a “co-author” in Beau’s death. Lead pastor Troy M. Eason expressed deep sadness at the news and shared that Jackie was allegedly involved in her husband’s murder.
Beau Shroyer was tragically killed in an act of violence while serving as a missionary in Angola, Africa, in October. The couple, with their five children, had started their mission work after COVID restrictions eased, as confirmed by SIM USA President Randy Fairman.
In a recent statement from SIM USA, the organization overseeing the missionary trip, it was revealed that Jackie is currently in custody in Angola and is receiving support from SIM colleagues and others. Jackie was arrested alongside two Angolan men in connection with her husband’s murder, while another suspect remains at large, according to reports from the Angola Press Agency.
The suspects allegedly orchestrated the murder by pretending to have car trouble before carrying out the heinous act. Police described Jackie as the “mastermind” behind the plot and suspect a romantic relationship between her and the person who ordered the murder.
The pastor of Lakes Area Vineyard Church expressed disbelief at Jackie’s arrest and assured that the couple’s children are being well-cared for. The church held a funeral for Beau in November 2024, and Jackie has been able to maintain contact with her children since her arrest.
The children have since returned to the United States and are settling in with close family members, receiving the care and attention they need. They are currently being homeschooled and adjusting to a new reality. Efforts to reach out to the church for comment were made but were unsuccessful.
