Houston, Texas – Almost two weeks after a tragic incident involving a Navy recruit confronting a car burglar resulted in his death, his companions that fateful night have now come forward to share their account of the events.
On the night of February 16, Julian Comeaux and his friends received word that one of their vehicles was being broken into. They immediately headed to Hadley Street near Bagby around 1 a.m. to address the situation.
The group confronted the suspected burglar, described by police as a black individual with gold-tipped dreadlocks, who started walking away upon being called out for the crime. A scuffle ensued when Comeaux pursued the suspect, ultimately leading to gunshots being fired.
Tragically, Comeaux was struck by bullets in the arm and neck, resulting in his untimely death. Another individual, Fitzroy Vanhorne, was also injured when a bullet hit him in the arm during the altercation.
Authorities have yet to identify the shooter involved in the incident and are seeking assistance from the public in obtaining relevant information to further their investigation.
Comeaux’s mother, Lerisha Sellers, along with friends and family, gathered for a vigil to honor his memory and appeal for justice. Sellers urged the responsible party to come forward and face the consequences of their actions.
