Beloved Kyle Police Employee Honored 10 Years After Tragic Murder

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Kyle Police Department in central Texas is set to commemorate the life of Samantha Dean, a former Victim Services Coordinator tragically killed a decade ago. The department is planning a memorial event on Thursday, February 6, to honor the legacy and impact Dean had during her time serving the community.

Dean dedicated her efforts to assisting others from 2013 until her unfortunate demise in 2015. Her life was cut short in a murder-for-hire plot when she was seven months pregnant, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and kindness that touched the lives of many.

In remembrance of Dean, close friends, family, and colleagues within the police department will gather to pay tribute to her and the work she accomplished. Known for her warm smile and empathetic nature, Dean was beloved by many for her selfless service to those in need.

The Kyle Police Department has taken steps to honor Dean’s memory by dedicating special spaces in her name. Sam’s space and Maddie’s Corner have been transformed into soft interview rooms, providing a safe haven for victims and witnesses of crimes. These rooms are filled with comforting amenities, such as toys, games, and vibrant art, aligning with the spirit and preferences of Samantha herself.

Police Chief Jeff Barnett expressed gratitude for the opportunity to create a space that reflects Dean’s essence and offers solace to those in distress. The thoughtful dedication of these rooms stands as a lasting tribute to Dean’s enduring legacy and the positive impact she had on the community she served.
