Sydney, Australia – A 28-year-old police officer has been charged with the murder of missing Australian TV personality Jesse Baird and his boyfriend Luke Davies. Detectives began a frantic search after the couple’s bloodied items were discovered in a bin near Sydney. Beaumont Lamarre-Condon, Baird’s ex-boyfriend, turned himself in to police on Friday as he was being sought as a person of interest.
Authorities have not yet located the men’s bodies or confirmed their cause of death. They allege that the couple was killed inside Baird’s home in Paddington, an inner Sydney suburb, before their bodies were moved in a white van. Witnesses reported hearing shouting and a verbal argument on the morning of the alleged murders, and surveillance footage captured the rented van at the scene that evening.
A bullet matching Beaumont Lamarre-Condon’s work-issued gun was found at the crime scene, along with a significant amount of blood and upturned furniture. The police officer did not report to work the following day, and his gun was later found in a safe at a police station. Police have also seized blood-stained clothes, a phone, and credit cards from an industrial bin in Cronulla, as well as other items from a house in Balmain.
Beaumont Lamarre-Condon is believed to have traveled to Newcastle, 170km north of the crime scene, after the alleged killings. Despite his cooperation with investigators, the information provided has not yielded significant assistance to the investigation. Authorities continue to appeal to the public for any additional information that could assist in locating the bodies and providing closure for the victims’ families.
