MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.Y. — A violent incident at Adirondack Academy has left a staff member hospitalized and a student facing serious charges. Authorities arrested a 16-year-old male student after he allegedly assaulted a staff member who intervened during a disagreement between two students.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police were called to the scene around 10:25 a.m. on Friday following reports of the attack. Upon their arrival at the school located on State Highway 67 in Mohawk, they found a male staff member unconscious on the sidewalk with significant injuries.
Emergency medical teams responded swiftly, providing care before transporting the injured staff member to Albany Medical Center for further treatment. Initial reports indicated that the staff member, whose identity has not been disclosed, was in critical condition.
Investigation details emerged as law enforcement gathered witness accounts and reviewed security footage from the academy.
