Bible Hill, Nova Scotia — Two youths have been charged in connection with a violent assault captured on video, which has since circulated widely on social media. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) reported that the disturbing incident occurred in August, and officers were made aware of the footage on September 24.
According to Cmdr. Marc Rose of the Colchester County District RCMP, the brutal attack was unprovoked and motivated by a false rumor circulating among local youth. While the details of the rumor remain undisclosed due to its association with a third party, it reportedly incited the aggression.
The RCMP indicated that the assault took place in Bible Hill, a community situated approximately 100 kilometers north of Halifax. The victim, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was targeted without any apparent justification.
The identities and ages of the victim and the two accused have not been revealed. Rose expressed concern over the nature of the assault, labeling the suspects’ actions as both cowardly and criminal. He also noted the troubling fact that witnesses did not intervene during the attack, which left the victim visibly injured.
In the aftermath, the suspects allegedly threatened the victim with retaliation if the assault was reported to authorities. Consequently, the two youths, one from Onslow and the other from Purcell’s Cove, face charges of aggravated assault and uttering threats. Both have been released under legally binding agreements and are expected to appear in court on Monday.
Rose urged community members to report any incidents of violence they may witness, emphasizing the importance of taking action. “We will investigate thoroughly and lay charges whenever possible,” he stated.
Local officials are hoping that increased awareness and community vigilance will deter future incidents, maintaining the safety and well-being of residents.
