Richland County, South Carolina – After a violent assault at Concept Restaurant last month, authorities have arrested two suspects in connection to the incident. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the apprehension of Clifton Bookert, 37, and Michael Alexander James, 23, for their alleged involvement in the attack that resulted in the hospitalization of a victim with severe injuries.
On March 16, 2025, deputies were called to the restaurant around 8:00 p.m. following reports of an assault. Upon arrival, they discovered a victim who had been attacked by two individuals. The suspects had fled the scene by the time law enforcement arrived, and the injured individual was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
After releasing surveillance footage of the assault on April 3, authorities urged the public to assist in identifying the perpetrators. Subsequently, one of the suspects, Clifton Bookert, surrendered himself to the authorities and was charged with assault and battery of a High and Aggravated Nature. He was taken into custody at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center but has since been released pending further proceedings.
Following the identification of the second suspect, Michael Alexander James, on April 9, he also turned himself in to law enforcement. James faces the same charges in connection to the assault at Concept Restaurant.
