Phillip Anderson Jr., 53, was taken into custody following disturbing social media posts suggesting he was preparing to harm others with a shotgun.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Anderson shared videos online in which he was seen driving downtown while brandishing a shotgun. In these clips, he made threats against law enforcement and indicated intentions to run over pedestrians. Officers acted quickly upon learning of his online activity, leading to his arrest for driving under the influence near the downtown area.
The disturbing threats evoked memories of a tragic incident in New Orleans during New Year’s celebrations, where a similar attack resulted in numerous casualties. As a precaution, police closely monitored Broadway, recognizing the heavy foot traffic and tourism that characterize the area.
Anderson, a resident of Goodlettsville, faces multiple charges, including felony false reporting and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. He remains in custody, with bail set at $11,000.
