LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tragedy struck in Los Angeles as former “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor met a fatal end interrupting thieves attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his car. The incident occurred in downtown LA around 3 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, recounted to ABC 7 that her 37-year-old son had left work at a rooftop bar with a coworker when he noticed someone near his car and initially thought it was being towed. Unfortunately, a suspect wearing a mask opened fire on him.
Following the shooting, three suspects fled the scene, leaving Wactor critically injured. He was quickly transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
As authorities continue their investigation, no arrests had been made as of late Sunday. Wactor’s agent, David Shaul, paid tribute to the late actor, describing him as a beacon of morality for all who knew him.
“In the midst of the challenges faced in his profession, he consistently maintained a positive outlook and strived for excellence,” Shaul expressed in a statement. “Our time spent with Johnny was a gift that we wish upon everyone. His generosity knew no bounds. After more than a decade together, his absence will be deeply felt.”
Wactor’s legacy extends beyond his time on “General Hospital” as he also made appearances in various films, TV series, and even in the video game “Call of Duty: Vanguard.” His role as Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera from 2020 to 2022 showcased his talent and versatility in the entertainment industry.
